Santa didn’t seem to mind the cooler temperatures on Saturday during his visit to Chenoa, but the winds were a different story.
“I don’t mind the cold, it’s just really windy,” admitted the jolly old elf during a drive-thru visit with Santa at the Chenoa Methodist Church.
The Chenoa Women’s Club once again sponsored the event which was open to children of various ages who remained in their cars while visiting with Mr. Claus.
“I love seeing all of the kids,” added Santa.
Most of the kids seemed to be excited although there was one child who screamed once he said hello through the car window. That is to be expected, said Santa, who seems to love the small-town atmosphere of Chenoa.
Prior to last year, the annual tradition took place in the Prairie Central Primary West multi-purpose room but the event was moved to the church in a drive-thru format due to COVID.
“The parents just drive through and don’t have to get the kids out of the car,” explained Women’s Club member Susie Boian.
Children attending received gift bags filled with snacks, stuffed animals, crayons and coloring books. Parents were able to take photos of their children visiting with Santa.
