Chenoa residents took advantage of a warm, sunny Sunday afternoon to get their cars washed for a great cause.
Volunteers with the Chenoa Shop-n-Go group washed vehicles near the main city park and collected donations during the fundraiser. A few cars came by that didn’t event get a car wash, they simply donated funds.
“Our mission is coming to fruition,” said Shop-n-Go organizer Melissa Cooper.
According to Cooper, the group needs to raise money beyond the normal events they hold each year. Shop-n-Go activities include the Fall Fest, light-up parade at Christmas, Halloween costume contest and candy giveaway, plus Christmas ornament decorations.
“Everything we do is free for kids,” explained Cooper.
Parents can reach out to Shop-n-Go if they need help purchasing sports equipment for their kids or for assistance with school insurance.
“If you need extra help, come to us and anybody can call me at 217-494-2199.”
Shop-n-Go Fall Fest is Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Oct. 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park. Monster Grilled Cheese and More is expected to return and Engine One Concessions will be there. Around 40 vendors are expected.
“We are just thankful for our city helping us out because we helped out the city so much and we really appreciate it.”
