Owners of the building at 917 East Cemetery Avenue made a presentation to the Chenoa City Council Tuesday evening about a new restaurant proposed for the space.
The new venture will be named OB's Cervezaria, featuring pizza, and Mexican beer brewed on-site. It will require $200,000 to renovate the building, and the target opening date is July 4, 2022. The firm is projected to create ten permanent jobs and the owners shared a concept drawing of the new restaurant with council members.
Business owners requested the city provide $70,000 in initial business start-up money from TIF funds. The City Council is proceeding to prepare the proper paperwork and vote on this proposal at a future meeting.
In other business, the group was informed that a form was not filed on time with the EPA. Because this form was not filed by the deadline date, the EPA requires that each Chenoa resident receive a mailing regarding missing the deadline. City officials noted the quality of Chenoa water still meets all quality standards.
Minutes from the last council meeting and executive session were approved along with a meeting schedule for 2022. The City Council reviewed the status of all Covid relief funds received or projected to be received. Future votes will be taken when appropriate projects are identified for spending the funds.
