Kimberly Grace Perz, 57, passed away unexpectedly in Laurium, Michigan on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Shirley Perz. She is survived by her friend and former husband, Don Chorak; her only sister, Sheila Weckerly; her nieces: Sarah (Nicholas) Swanson, Rachel (Kevin) Wildung, Laura Weckerly; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; cousins; and other close friends.
Originally from Illinois, Kim’s heart belonged to the UP. In her life, she was a writer, friend, daughter, wife, sister, cousin, auntie, great-aunt, and affectionate dog-mom. To some, she was an organized, detail-oriented professional. To others, she was a spunky, generous, and kind individual.
Kim loved her coffee (Tim Horton’s) strong and her hairstyle the same in 2021 as it was in 1985. She often shared gems of her life in the UP (Yooper culture) with her family and friends. She aspired to do more hiking and recently purchased a new pair of hiking boots up to the task. She was always in search of a good campfire, cabin, or road trip buddy. Laughter, her furry companions, and her faith helped her through some tough times. She will be remembered for her punctual birthday cards, her goofiness, and her spirit. She will be missed by many.
She will be laid to rest near her parents in Chenoa, IL during a private family service. It is requested that Kimberly’s nieces be contacted to obtain details for making donations in her honor.
