Donna Mae Myer, 89, Pontiac and formerly of Chenoa, died at 6:56 am Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac.
Donna was born November 29, 1932 near Colfax, IL the daughter of John C. and Inez C. Seeman Schroeder. She married William Joseph Myer on February 12, 1951 in rural Chenoa. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1991.
Survivors include four daughters, Rebecca “Beckie” (Dale) Ziemer, Palatine; Yvonne Smith, Naples, FL; Cindy Myer, Highland; Mary Sellmyer, Bloomington; seven Grandchildren and nine Great Grandchildren. She also is survived by two AFS Students who have become Members of our Family; Isa (Alberto) Balinas Bueno of Spain; one Child and Grandchild; and Kirsi Tolevanan of Finland; two Children.
She is preceded in death by one brother, Harold Schroeder.
Donna was a graduate of Fairbury Twp. High School. She worked as a Bookkeeper at Schroeder Firestone, Pontiac; a Bank Teller at the Bank of Chenoa; Farmed with her husband; Developed a Mary Kay Cosmetic Business for 34 years; and a Lifetime Gardener of Lovely Flowers.
Donna was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Pontiac serving on the church council and ALCW. She had been active in the Chenoa Woman’s Club, Athena, Chenoa Arts and Travel, Scott House treasurer and notably was Chenoa’s 1st City Council woman. Donna enjoyed painting and was a member artist with the Pontiac Community Art Center.
Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 pm Saturday, January 15, 2022 followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm at the First Lutheran Church, Pontiac. Inurnment will be in Chenoa Twp. Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to First Lutheran Church, Evenglow Lodge; both in Pontiac, OSF Hospice or Pontiac Community Art Center.
A second Celebration of Donna’s life will be held on July 30, 2022 in Chenoa. More details regarding this service will be available in July. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is assisting with arrangements.
