Obituary: Leach



Otis K. Leach, of Chenoa, passed away with his family at his side on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 at Goldwater Care in Pontiac. 


Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa, is in charge of arrangements. Cremation rites have been accorded. 


A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Sunday, March 24th, 2024 at Gridley Cemetery. 


Memorial contributions in Otis’ name may be made to Illinois Cancer Care in Bloomington or the Chenoa Fire Department.


Otis was born on March 24th, 1949 in Morris, IL; the son of Sterling “Slim” and Wanda “Maggie” Leach. He married Jerri Shepard on July 6th, 1989 in Ozark, MO. She survives in Chenoa. 


Other survivors include his four children: Phaedra (Marc) Morris, Gridley; Angela (Joe) Gardner, Gridley; Cody Leach, Gridley; and Nathan (Hillary) Leach, McLean. Also surviving are his nine grandkids: Brittani, Maggie, Greyson, Jaxon, Alden, Charley, Anderson, Brynn, and Hayes; and also three great-grandkids: Mikey, Marlee, and Raylan. Otis’ brother Alan (Linda) Leach survives in El Paso. 


Otis is preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons: Wyatt Morris and Joey Gardner.


Otis was a 1967 graduate of Pontiac HS and worked as an auto parts manager for most of his life. For two years he served as the Commander of the Pontiac American Legion Post. He loved to camp, hunt, and fish and had a special appreciation for antique cars. He enjoyed motorcycle rides with his brother Alan and friends, John Brill and Herald Hensley.


Otis will be missed by his family, friends, and two dogs, Duke and Lilly.
