Barbara Lois (DeVore) Lay, 86, of Chenoa formerly of Lexington passed away at 2:22 am, Tuesday, February 2, 2021at OSF St. James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.
Cremation rites have been accorded with a family graveside to be held at a later date in Chenoa Township Cemetery. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.
Barbara was born July 4, 1934 in Eighty-Eight, Kentucky; the daughter of Homer Clyde and Julia Ann (Whitlow) DeVore Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents two sons, Vencil and Phillip Brewer, brother, Clyde Devore, brother in-law, Jim Byrd, sister in-law, Beverly DeVore and daughter in-law, Diana Brewer.
Survivors include her children, Michael (Debbie) Brewer of Texas; Russell (Eva) Brewer of Wisconsin; Barbara A. (Ken) Hennington of Wisconsin; three brothers, Lee (Linda) DeVore of Senatobia, MS; James (Janet) DeVore of Normal; Larry DeVore of Fisher; two sisters, Jerriann Byrd of Pontiac; Laura (Roger) Faulconer of Lewisville, TX; sister in-law, Gail Devore of Lexington; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Ms. Lay attended Chenoa schools. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lexington and more recently attended the River of Life Church in Meadows. Barbara’s hobbies included baking and cooking, needle point, reading, gardening, and collecting cook books.
