Obituary: Klus




Raymond A. Klus, 65, of Chenoa, passed away at 11:28am, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at his residence in Chenoa after a brief battle with Cancer.


Cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial mass at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 9, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chenoa with Fr. David Sabel officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Township Cemetery, Chenoa.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Darkhorse Lodge, a veterans retreat in TN; www.darkhorselodge.org. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.


Mr. Klus was born February 15, 1958 in Elgin, IL; the son of Lawrence and Betty (Reach) Klus.  He married Karen Ekstrom on May 15, 1976 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elgin, IL.  His wife, Karen survives in Chenoa.


Other survivors include his children, Elizabeth (Frank) Garncarz of Mt. Morris, IL; Jason (Chris) Klus of Fairbury; Thomas (Tisha) Klus of Chatsworth; Alexander (Cori) Klus of Forrest; Margit (Mark) Lewis of Machesney Park, IL; two sisters, Judy (Brad) Splinter, Merry Klus both of Sycamore, IL; two brothers, Terry Klus of Sycamore, IL; James Klus of Kingston, IL; and nine grandchildren. 


He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Klus.


Ray served our country as a Corporal in the US Army from 1975 to 1981. He was proud to serve his country and very proud of his three sons who also served. He loved woodworking and mechanical tinkering in the garage, and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren camping and being outdoors. Family meant everything to Ray.
