Obituary: Jackson


Richard D. “Dick” Jackson, 81, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at his residence in Chenoa, IL.


Richard was born on March 4, 1941, in Powhatan Point, OH, the son of Raymond D. and Florence M. (nee Glass) Jackson, and is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Delano, Raymond, David, & Donald and two sisters Jackie & Naomi.


Survivors include one sister, Olive Gallagher (nee Jackson), of Bellaire, OH; his former spouse, Garnett “Garie” Yacovella (nee Lewis), of Lady Lake, FL; one son, Tracey (Jackie) Jackson, of Pontiac, IL; one daughter, Vicki (Nicholas) Ours (nee Jackson), of Mentor, OH; four grandchildren: Rebecca Christie (nee Jauch), Elizabeth (Donald) White (nee Jauch), Richard (Emily) Jackson, Ashley (Austin) Giles (nee Pagan); and seven great-grandchildren: Gabbrielle Stover (nee Barmore) , Jordan Barmore, Sebastian Avery, Danika Avery, Maggie Jackson, Olivia Jackson, and Landyn Giles.


Dick retired from CAT (Caterpillar Inc.) in Pontiac, IL; after over 40 years and was a proud member of the UAW Union Local 2096. When he wasn’t working, he could be found on the golf course with his friends enjoying the game he loved. He also had a passion for genealogy and researching and recording his family history.


His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the light of his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.


Cremation rites have been accorded with a private celebration of his life at a later date. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa, is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be directed to DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
