Ronald Phillips Gentes, 97, of Chenoa, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family service will be held at a later date. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions are directed to Livingston County Food Bank or the charity of the donor’s choice.
Ronald was born May 9, 1927 in rural Gridley; a son to Alvin and Mildred (Phillips) Gentes. He married the love of his life and partner for over 69 years; Barbara J. Fogle on February 19, 1950 at the Carlock Christian Church, Carlock. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2019. Together again, forever.
Survivors include one son, Tom Gentes of Chenoa; two daughters, Janet Gentes of Laurinburg, NC; Gail Gentes of Prescott, AZ; grandchildren, Katie Trier Holland of Charleston, SC; Matt (Dawn Carson) Trier of Kannapolis, NC; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gentes served our country in the US Navy during WWII. He lived and farmed for most of his life in Pike Township. He was a farmer; it wasn’t what he did but who he was. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
