State Police have provided a brief update on a crash from Monday involving a Chenoa squad car on Interstate 55.
In a statement released to Chenoa News late Wednesday morning, ISP said, “After a more thorough investigation, it was determined that no contact was made between the officer’s squad car and the other vehicle.”
The following press release was issued by the Chenoa Police Department via Facebook on Tuesday:
“On 8-28-23, at around 7:06 pm, a Chenoa Officer was involved in a crash on I-55 near Towanda. The officer was transported to the hospital and treated for minor injuries and a possible concussion and was released late yesterday evening. No other parties were injured in the crash.
Illinois State Police Troop 5 is investigating the cause of the crash. Chenoa Police will not be releasing any further information at this time.
The police department and officers appreciate the many calls and texts of concern and support for the officer.
Update: Earlier press releases by other sources described the injuries to the officer as serious. This was due to the fact he had been transported to the hospital by EMS and exact condition was not yet known.”
