Chenoa Public Library presents singer, songwriter, playwright and Illinois Times Newspaper columnist Tom Irwin on Oct. 15.
A "meet and greet" reception, with refreshments, begins at 4:00 PM and the concert starts at 5:00 PM. Tom will be sharing his thirty-five plus years of transferring experiences, into songs, and giving those songs life through performances and recordings.
Known as a presenter of original folk and country songs, Tom will be showcasing
selections from his 10 album catalog of original recordings, featuring songs from his stage play "Sangamon Songs” plus a special preview from his forthcoming children's CD.
Tom has shared the stage with such popular artists as Ryan Adams, Billy Bob Thornton, Old 97s, Robbie Fulks, The Gordons, and Rosie Flores. John Stirratt, bassist for Wilco, producer, hails Tom Irwin “a modern day troubadour.”
Whether recounting experiences about opening for "Willie Nelson and Family" at the llinois State Fair Grandstand Stage or discovering Harry Glen Ludlam's 1893 diary that inspired the development of the "Sangamon Songs" play, you are sure to enjoy the special Sunday afternoon at the Chenoa Public Library.
