The Heartland Community College Foundation is hosting a night of stand up comedy to support programs and scholarships.
The hosts HCC Funnyraiser Comedy Night will be held at the College on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. The night includes local amateur comedians, a dollar-a-vote for the Crowd Favorite award, a silent auction, complimentary snacks at intermission, and beverages for purchase. All proceeds for the night will go towards the Foundation Funding Priorities (FFPs) Returning Hawks, HALO, Project RISE, and expanding global experiences for underserved students.
Led by the boisterous emcee Joe Strupek, the show includes sets from local comedians: Habitat for Humanity Development Director Jolene Aldus, HCC Associate Director International Programs Gavin Lee, Bloomington-Normal YMCA Chief Operations Officer Patrick Mainieri, HCC Associate Vice President Enrollment and Student Services Amy Pawlik, and Carle BroMenn Pediatrician Dr. Aaron Traeger.
The show will be held in the Astroth Community Education Center (ACEC) on the Heartland Normal Campus (1500 W. Raab Road).
“The Funnyraiser is one of the most unique fundraising events you’ll find in our community. It’s that great experience of leaving a night feeling good because of how much you laughed, but feeling even better knowing whom you helped by coming to the event,” said Chris Downing, Foundation Executive Director. “You will have opened opportunities for first-generation college students, people returning to complete their degrees, and individuals with developmental challenges to become more independent. The smile won’t leave your face for a few days.”
Funnyraiser Comedy Night was made possible by many generous sponsors who have partnered with the Foundation to make the night a success; including promotional sponsors, Afni Inc. and CEFCU, and stage sponsors David W. & Deborah R. Fedor.
Tickets are $25 and are limited. For information on how to purchase tickets, visit the heartland.edu.
