Many moms and dads will be surprised on Christmas morning thanks to Chenoa firefighters and their families.
Saturday’s annual kids Christmas Corner was another success with several children choosing gifts for their parents at the Chenoa fire station. Those between the ages of 3 and 12 were escorted into the shopping area by a fireman or police officer. There is no charge to the kids and families participating.
“We pay for most of it with donations and the ladies are sent out to buy a bunch of gifts,” explained Chenoa fire chief Troy Aldrich.
Parents stay outside in their cars so they are surprised with the gift selections.
Members of the Chenoa Women’s Club helped wrap presents and other volunteers helped with the day as well. Santa even sat at the top of the steps high above the action in the firehouse to wave and say hello to children.
According to Aldrich, any volunteers are welcome to assist with the project every year. Just reach out to the fire department for more information or follow them on Facebook.
