Firefighters help at rural fire scene

Emergency vehicles line the road south of Fairbury Saturday afternoon.

Chenoa firemen were among those responding to a Saturday afternoon fire south of Fairbury in neighboring Livingston County.


The attic fire broke out in a home south of Fairbury and was reportedly contained to that area. Fairbury assistant fire chief Josh Hoselton said the cause was unknown and under investigation. No injuries were reported and the homeowner was home at the time and no damage amount was given.


Responding departments came from Fairbury, Forrest, Strawn, Pontiac, Colfax, Lexington, Cropsey and Chenoa along with SELCAS. Crews cleared the scene around 5 p.m. Saturday.
